David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tom Noonan are to lend their voices in Anomalisa.

The trio will reprise their original stage roles in Charlie Kaufman's upcoming animated short film, reported Screen Daily.

David is set to voice Michael, a motivational speaker who struggles with his inability to connect with people until he meets Lisa (Jennifer). Tom is expected to voice the other characters in the film, as he did in the play.

Charlie, who has adapted the play for the big screen, will co-direct the animated feature with Duke Johnson. It will be his first animated film.

Production on Anomalisa is already under way, and the film will be pitched to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival.

Charlie, who is best known for writing Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and The Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, got 406,237 US dollars (around £265,450) worth of financial backing for the project from online crowd-funding site Kickstarter.

David - best known for playing Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films - will next be seen in Red 2 alongside Bruce Willis, John Malkovich and Dame Helen Mirren, and WikiLeaks film The Fifth Estate with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Your Horoscopes by Russell Grant

Sagittarius:

Expressing your creative side is strongly advised. Take this opportunity to write, paint or play music. Relatives may not appreciate your work, but that doesn't matter. The important thing is to satisfy your own taste. People who are daring and experimental will appreciate your efforts. Don't be surprised if you're given a chance to showcase your work in a magazine, boutique or gallery. Fame and acclaim can be yours, so long as you're willing to follow your instincts.More
