Thirlby in the mix for King role

Olivia Thirlby is being linked to the Carole King role in Girls Like Us

Olivia Thirlby is apparently one of the actresses in the running to portray folk singer Carole King.

The Dredd 3D star is vying for the role in the developing biopic Girls Like Us, along with Ari Graynor, Alison Pill and Zoe Kazan, reported Variety.

Mad Men's Jessica Pare, Allison Williams and Analeigh Tipton are thought to be battling it out for the part of fellow songstress Carly Simon.

Taylor Swift is already on board to play Joni Mitchell in the big-screen adaptation of Sheila Weller's book of the same name, which will mark the directorial debut of House's executive producer Katie Jacobs.

The Sony musical drama, written by John Sayles, is expected to track the careers of the three singers, who all emerged out of the 1960s folk scene and became pioneering musicians as well as feminist figures.
