Thompson and Hanks to Save Mr Banks
Emma Thompson could be teaming up with Tom Hanks for Saving Mr Banks.
The Oscar-winning English actress and the Hollywood star are "officially in talks" to take the leads in John Lee Hancock's Mary Poppins biopic, reported Variety.
Tom is tipped to portray film legend Walt Disney, with Emma as Australian author Pamela Lyndon (PL) Travers, who wrote the original novels about the magical nanny, which the Disney film was based on.
Pamela reportedly disapproved of the Disney movie, especially the animated sections.
Oscar-winner Meryl Streep had previously been attached to the role of Pamela.
Emma - who has shot the biopic Effie, based on a script she wrote last year with Dakota Fanning - recently signed on to star in the adaptation Beautiful Creatures. She will next be seen in Men In Black 3 and has lent her vocal talents as Queen Elinor to Disney and Pixar's animated fantasy Brave.
Tom, who was last seen in Stephen Daldry's Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close with Sandra Bullock, has finished filming Cloud Atlas with the Wachowskis, and is next set to shoot the Somali pirate picture Captain Phillips for director Paul Greengrass.
