The new Mad Max film could be followed by two sequels, director George Miller has revealed.
Tom Hardy is expected to step into Mel Gibson's shoes in Fury Road, the Mad Max reboot, as post-apocalyptic drifter Max Rockatansky.
Charlize Theron and Zoe Kravitz have also been linked to the film, in supporting roles.
Happy Feet film-maker George told Australian Financial Review: "We started with [Fury Road], but we then started to do a second story and a third.
"We've written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, [but] they were part of the exploration of the characters."
The reboot has been delayed as a result of the film's arid Australian location being hit by flash flooding.
Filming is now expected to take place in Namibia, in April.
Mad Max 4: Fury Road, has been the subject of talks for the past two decades.

George also said that he'll be working on a new animated bear film, called Fur Brigade, saying he considers it, "the most ambitious thing we've done".
