Tina Fey puts Kermit in prison

Tina Fey is set to throw Kermit the Frog in jail in the new Muppets film.

The 30 Rock star will play a mean Russian prison guard who mistakes Kermit for the world's most dangerous criminal and locks him up, according to the Daily Mail.

In Muppets Most Wanted, the Muppets get caught up in a European jewel heist while on a grand world tour - but as the criminal mastermind looks exactly like Kermit, they're in for a heap of trouble.

Kermit's Russian lookalike Constantine introduces himself in a trailer for the film by announcing: "It's not easy being mean."

When Tina's character Nadya, also Russian and wearing a glamorous prison guard outfit, mistakes Kermit for the thief, she throws him in a cell and says: "You're going to be here a long time."

The other Muppets, including Miss Piggy, are taken in by their tour manager Dominic (Ricky Gervais), who is in cahoots with Constantine, at first, but soon realise they need to free Kermit from prison.

The film also stars Lady Gaga, Tom Hiddleston, Salma Hayek and Stanley Tucci and is due out on March 28, 2014.
