Suspended Tory MP Nadine Dorries appeared to take a swipe at David Cameron as she entered the jungle for TV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Asked what behaviour she would not tolerate from fellow-contestants on the ITV show, the Mid-Bedfordshire MP responded: “I do not like arrogant people who think they are born to rule.”
Her comment will inevitably revive memories of her description of Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne “arrogant posh boys”, and is likely to make her readmission to the Tory fold when she returns from Australia more difficult.
Ms Dorries will be summoned to meet Tory chief whip Sir George Young on her return to the UK to discuss whether she will have the whip restored.
She is the outsider to win at 20/1, according to William Hill. The bookmaker's spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Nadine claims she wants to raise |political issues in the jungle, but the likelihood is that her posturing will grate on her campmates and the public in equal measure.”
Comic Brian Conley has been named favourite to win this year's contest, ahead of soap stars such as Helen Flanagan and Charlie Brooks.
The line-up heading to the Oz jungle includes boxer David Haye, former Doctor Who Colin Baker, former darts champ Eric Bristow and Made In Chelsea star Hugo Taylor.
