Tremors reboot is in the works

Kevin Bacon starred in monster horror film Tremors

Tremors could be returning to the big screen, with those giant man-eating worms scaring a new generation.

The first film starred Kevin Bacon as a handyman who discovered the "graboids", who burrowed underground, before being unleashed and had caused chaos in a Nevada town.

Director Don Michael Paul is said to be headed to South Africa to work on the reboot of the monster movie after finishing work on war film Company Of Heroes: The Fourth Reich, reported The Tracking Board.

The news comes a decade since the release of Tremors 4: The Legend Begins in 2004.

The original movie, released in 1990, spawned three direct-to-video sequels: Tremors 2: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back To Perfection, and Tremors 4: The Legend Begins.

It also led to a 13-episode TV programme, Tremors: The Series, which was based on the film series and aired from March through July 2003.

Californian filmmaker Don, who previously directed Lake Placid: The Final Chapter, has also worked on Sniper: Legacy and Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire.
