Talks are rumoured to be under way for another instalment - almost a decade since 2002's Friday After Next - with Ice, whose real name is O'Shea Jackson, to produce, star and direct.

Chris, who later found fame as smart-talking Detective James Carter in the Rush Hour films opposite Jackie Chan, is said to be in "serious talks" to reprise his role as pot-loving Smokey, reported Deadline.

Tiny Lister aka Deebo sparked buzz about a forthcoming sequel, after telling TMZ.com that he plans to meet up with the two stars, saying: "This is gonna be the big one."

The original 1995 comedy Friday, written by Ice, launched Chris' career in Hollywood following his hilarious turn and spawned two sequels, Next Friday and Friday After Next.
