U2 to perform Oscar hit at ceremony

U2 are going to be performing their Oscar-nominated song at this year's Academy Awards ceremony.

The Irish band are up for Best Original Song for their track Ordinary Love, written to go with the film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

According to Deadline, they have now been confirmed as one of the acts performing at the awards ceremony on March 2.

The band had a long friendship with Nelson Mandela, who died on December 5, the day of the film's premiere.

U2 have been nominated for an Oscar once before, for their song The Hands That Built America from Martin Scorsese's Gangs Of New York, but lost out that year to Eminem's Lose Yourself from 8 Mile.

Ordinary Love recently picked up a Golden Globe for Best Original Song from a Motion Picture.
