Uma Thurman to host Gotham awards
Uma Thurman has been announced as the host of a star-studded Gotham Independent Film Awards.
The Independent Filmmaker Project's 24th annual awards will take place on Monday December 1 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York, with Uma presiding over the ceremony.
She will be joined by a glittering cast of A-list presenters including Meryl Streep, Jake Gyllenhaal, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, Marisa Tomei, Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette.
The Gothams honour independent film and mark one of the first galas in the film industry's lengthy awards season.
Richard Linklater's 12-year-long family drama, Boyhood, leads the nominations with four nods, including best feature.
Boyhood is also up for best actor, for Ethan Hawke; best actress, for Patricia Arquette and breakthrough actor for Ellar Coltrane, who grows up on screen in the film, which was shot over 12 years.
Also nominated for best feature are Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance), The Grand Budapest Hotel, Love Is Strange and Under The Skin.
The trio of stars in Foxcatcher - Channing Tatum, Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo - will be given a special jury award for their ensemble work.
