Van Morrison to open up in new movie
Monday, 7 September 2009
One of Northern Ireland’s most reclusive stars, Van Morrison, is about to reveal the man behind the myth in a behind-the-scenes documentary.
The Belfast-born musician is to tell his own story for the first time in his career in a self-directed documentary chronicling his experiences of reviving the iconic 40-year-old album Astral Weeks.
It would be surprising enough if the reluctant singer-songwriter had agreed to cooperate with a behind-the-scenes documentary — let alone make it himself. The documentary, entitled ‘To Be Born Again’ will be released early next year.
The reasoning behind the film is to “set the record straight” according to the legendary musician, who has spent years avoiding the media.
It follows Morrison through rehearsals for the tour, and features interviews and fly-on-the-wall footage taken over the year.
