Vera Farmiga plays McVie in Drummer

Vera Farmiga will play Christine McVie in The Drummer

Vera Farmiga could be showing off her singing skills on screen in musical drama The Drummer.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who is a classically-trained pianist, is reported to be playing Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter Christine McVie in Randy Miller's biopic about Beach Boys star Dennis Wilson.

Aaron Eckhart is already on board to portray the late drummer, who died in 1983 at the age of 39, and both him and Vera are said to be duetting on a few songs as on-off lovers Dennis and Christine.

Filming is due to kick off in June.

Vera, who received a best supporting actress Oscar nod for her turn in Up In The Air, next stars in thriller Safe House opposite Ryan Reynolds, Denzel Washington and Brendan Gleeson.

Aaron, last seen in The Rum Diary with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, is currently filming I, Frankenstein.
