Vera Farmiga uses 'zen' approach for film roles
Vera Farmiga employs a “zen” approach when it comes to finding film roles.
The 37-year-old actress is known for her stints in films such as The Departed, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and 2009 comedy Up in the Air, for which she received vast critical acclaim.
Vera is often cited as a champion for mature actresses in Hollywood, as she continues to land top roles in an industry dominated by females in their 20s and late teens. Vera thinks the fact that she takes a laidback approach to work probably helps her, and she’s happy to say she’s never experienced ageism.
“I’m really zen about finding work,” she told Total Film. “People always say to me, ‘How can you say there aren’t any great roles for women when you’re an example of executing great roles for women?’
“It’s a contradiction because personally I have found great roles, but it’s not like I have millions of scripts to choose from.”
