Vergara goes crazy in Machete Kills

Sofia Vergara has revealed her Machete Kills character is very different from her Modern Family alter-ego, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett.

The Colombian actress plays Madame Desdemona in Robert Rodriguez's sequel, alongside Jessica Alba, Danny Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez. There are also appearances from Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Zoe Saldana and Lady Gaga.

"I had an amazing time. I was shooting and jumping and driving. I saw little parts of things and my face is fierce! Like when I'm screaming and killing someone, I'm really crazy," she told Total Film.

"That's a role that is not like any other comedy or action character or assassin. It was a lot of fun."

Sofia revealed she had initial reservations about starring in the second instalment of the violent movie, because it was out of her comfort zone.

"I want to do different things but I liked the fact that Robert shoots fast and when he asked me if am I willing to do all this, I said yes, but I was a bit terrified on the inside," she admitted.

"I was excited to work with Robert. He writes incredible characters for women. I always wanted to work with him because I think it's a very new, different kind of way of doing movies and he's so involved."

Machete Kills will be in UK cinemas on October 11.
