Sofia Vergara is reportedly in talks to star in the Heat remake.
The Modern Family star could be sharing screen time with Jason Statham in Simon West's version of the 1986 crime drama, reported Variety.
The new adaptation will focus on Nick Escalante (Jason), a compulsive gambler on the streets of Las Vegas who takes odd jobs providing "security" to support his addiction. He is forced to take on the mob when a friend gets brutally beaten up.
Colombian actress Sofia has been seen - and heard - on the big screen in recent years, with roles in ensemble drama New Year's Eve, The Smurfs, The Three Stooges and the upcoming Machete Kills.
The 40-year-old has also had voice roles in Puss In Boots and Happy Feet 2.
