Warcraft film release date put back

The Warcraft movie has been delayed to avoid it clashing with Star Wars: Episode VII.

The big screen version of the popular video game - which is rumoured to be starring Colin Farrell and Paula Patton - was due to be unveiled on December 18, 2015.

However, the Star Wars sequel is also opening on that day, so it has now been announced that Warcraft won't be released until March 11, 2016, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

So far little is known about the plot or casting of the Warcraft movie, although Miami Vice star Colin recently added weight to rumours he will star in the film.

The actor told IGN he has read the story and had talked to Duncan Jones, who is directing.

He said: "Warcraft? Don't know what's happening, man. I read the script, if that's any use to you, and it's amazing."

Colin was asked which character he was up for but refused to divulge details.

"Can I? I probably shouldn't. I don't even know, actually, I'll just say that! I don't even know. We were just talking, and Duncan just said, 'There might be something in it for you!' And I said, 'Catering?'," he laughed.
