Whitaker joins Arnie's Last Stand

Forest Whitaker has been linked to the upcoming western thriller

Forest Whitaker and Jackass star Johnny Knoxville are the latest additions to Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand.

The duo are said to be joining the upcoming modern western thriller, although there are no further details about their roles, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Arnie will make his big screen comeback as an ageing small-town sheriff who has to try and stop a fugitive drug cartel leader (Eduardo Noriega) from reaching the Mexican border with his stash.

Luis Guzman, Harry Dean Stanton, Jaimie Alexander, Zach Gilford, Rodrigo Santoro and Peter Stormare also appear in the movie.

Written by Andrew Knauer and Jeffrey Nachmanoff, The Last Stand - which has begun shooting in New Mexico and Nevada - is to be directed by Kim Jee Woon.

Forest, best known for his Oscar-winning turn in The Last King Of Scotland, has two upcoming action thrillers - Catch .44 alongside Bruce Willis and Freelancers with Robert De Niro and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.
