Whittle wowed by 'Stifler's Mom'

Ricky Whittle has confessed he struggled to remain professional working with Jennifer Coolidge on Austenland, because he was so excited about acting opposite "Stifler's Mom" from American Pie.

The British actor left Hollyoaks in 2011 and moved to Los Angeles to try and get his break in Hollywood. His big screen debut in romantic comedy Austenland, with Jennifer, Jane Seymour and Keri Russell is due out later this year.

Ricky revealed: "To be honest it took all my might and power not to go 'Stifler's Mom!'

"My best acting was opposite Jennifer Coolidge - trying to keep a straight face when she is throwing random curve-balls at you that are not in the script, because she doesn't do scripts. She just improvs, and she is so intelligent when it comes to comedy and timing.

"So trying to keep a straight face with that woman is nigh on impossible. She is incredible in this film, and I learned so much."

Keri stars in the film as an American woman who books into a Jane Austen theme park in the UK, in search of her very own Mr Darcy. Jane Seymour plays the "madam" who runs the park and hires actors to romance the women. Ricky plays one of the actors.

Ricky confessed: "Is it wrong to say I've still got a crush Jane Seymour. I kissed her on set - it was in the script. I've not washed since!"
