Wiig: I hope Bowie likes my voice

Kristen Wiig rocks a curly wig in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Kristen Wiig has joked she hopes David Bowie likes her performance of Space Oddity in The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.

The Bridesmaids star had to tune her vocal chords to sing in the film, which stars and was directed by Ben Stiller.

"It was really fun. I don't consider myself a professional singer by any means but it was really exciting. We recorded at Electric Lady (studios) in New York City, which was incredible," she said.

"I'm a huge Bowie fan so I hope he approves. I haven't heard from him yet," joked the 40-year-old.

She said she also has daydreams like Ben's character Walter. She revealed: "All the time, more than I should. It just kind of goes all over the place. We all just daydream and find ourselves thinking about things that have nothing to do with the situation around here."

Meanwhile, the actress had to don a curly wig in her other new film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

Kristen plays Chani, the love interest of Steve Carell's character Brick Tamland, in the comedy sequel.

"That wig is a whole other character in the movie. I loved it," she said.

The Anchorman fan admitted appearing in the film was a dream come true.

"I love those guys and it was a really great experience - and the outfits were really fun," she said. "Just seeing all of those guys in their costumes and everything was very exciting, because the first film is one of my favourite movies."

:: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is in cinemas now, while The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty opens in cinemas on December 26.
