William H Macy has joined the cast of Walter

William H Macy has joined the cast of Walter, a film about a man who believes he is the son of God.

Rising star Adam J West, who starred in the original short film of the same name, is reprising his role as Walter, Deadline reported.

The Sessions star William, Sideways actress Virginia Madsen, Twilight's Peter Facinelli and Weeds' Justin Kirk have all come aboard the comedy drama.

Walter works in a cinema, but believing he is the son of God means he also believes the eternal destiny of everyone he encounters is his responsibility.

He must also cope with his over-protective, neurotic mother and his growing feelings for his co-worker.

Neve Campbell, Leven Rambin and Milo Ventimiglia co-star in the film, which has started shooting in Indiana and Los Angeles

McG protege Anna Mastro is making her feature directing debut on the project.
