Williams 'does Monroe' at premiere
Actress Michelle Williams appeared to be taking inspiration from the late Marilyn Monroe at the premiere of her new film, Blue Valentine, at the London Film Festival.
The Brokeback Mountain star, currently shooting My Week With Marilyn in London in which she portrays the Hollywood legend, looked stunning with an elfin blonde hairdo and a red 50s-style Erdem lace dress and striking animal-print heels at the premiere in London's West End.
Williams, 30, revealed how working with co-star Ryan Gosling on Blue Valentine was "a dream come true".
In Derek Cianfrance's moving drama, the duo portray a married couple whose relationship is falling apart.
"It was a dream come true. He spoiled me. He is the ultimate dance and scene partner," she said on the red carpet.
The film has been 12 years in the making.
"I first read it when I was 21 years old and it hit me like a ton of bricks - it was the favourite thing I ever read and I just burned for it," she said. "It was all I could think about. It was the only movie I wanted to make for a few years, then it just fell away and turned out to be a longer road. It's been a long time coming."
Cianfrance, who co-wrote the script with the help of the two actors, said he could think of no better pairing than Gosling and Williams.
"There was no choice - it was them," he declared. "Once I met them there was no choice. All the accolades and attention that comes their way, they deserve it because they were brave enough to show the breadth of emotions on screen," he added.
The film has been given an NC-17 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) - the US equivalent of an 18 - because of a drunken sex scene. The film-maker now plans to dispute it, with a formal appeal hearing set for November.
