Williams: I've always loved Monroe

Michelle Williams picked up the best actress award at the Hollywood Film Awards Gala

Michelle Williams has revealed it was a "dream come true" to take on the role of Marilyn Monroe.

The actress, who plays the Some Like It Hot star in My Week With Marilyn, said she'd admired the blonde bombshell since childhood.

"I've been a fan of her since I was a 12-year-old girl, so it was a dream come true," she said at the Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles, where she scooped a best actress award for her role in the movie.

But the 31-year-old said the only way to deal with the pressure associated with the sought-after role was to ignore it.

"I tried not to think about it too much, honestly. I didn't want it to get in the way," she admitted.

The film, which also stars Kenneth Branagh and Eddie Redmayne, centres on the making of the 1957 movie The Prince And The Showgirl, in which Marilyn starred alongside Laurence Olivier.

Irrational people are often thrown off balance when their behaviour is addressed in a direct manner.More
