Willis, Weaver top apocalypse poll

Movie fans trust Bruce Willis to save them from an apocalypse

Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver have been named the stars people would most like to save them from an apocalypse.

The pair - who played deep-sea driller Harry Stamper in Armageddon and warrant officer Ellen Ripley in Aliens - were picked as part of a survey to mark the prediction by ancient Mayans that the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.

Bruce topped the World's Most Likely Male Saviour category with 27 per cent, followed by I Am Legend's Will Smith and End Of Days hero Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Sigourney was named Female Saviour with 28 per cent, beating Mr And Mrs Smith's Angelina Jolie and Kill Bill's Uma Thurman, who came second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, The Day After Tomorrow was named peoples' favourite apocalypse movie, taking more than a quarter of the votes (28 per cent) in the survey by movie streaming service Blinkbox.

It was followed by Armageddon with 18 per cent of the vote and Outbreak on 13 per cent.

The survey also found that most respondents (27 per cent) would feel safest in an underground bunker. More than a quarter said home would be the best safe haven, with six per cent planning to hide under the duvet in the event of apocalypse.
