Winding Refn to direct The Bringing

Nicolas Winding Refn is in early talks to direct horror thriller The Bringing.

The Danish filmmaker behind Drive and Only God Forgives could be giving cinema-goers a scare if he signs up for the Sony Pictures film, reported Deadline.

The story, which has been written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy, will focus on a man investigating a death at a hotel, and the nightmare he stumbles into.

It has been inspired by a video of a young woman, Elisa Lam, showing bizarre behaviour in a lift at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, where killer Richard Ramirez stayed and suicides have happened. She was later found dead on the hotel's roof.

Nicolas, who is serving on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival, will reunite with Carey Mulligan on horror-thriller I Walk With The Dead, which he has said will have an all-female cast.
