Winnick: Interesting to be brunette
Katheryn Winnick has revealed she found it interesting playing a brunette in new film The Art Of Steal, because people reacted differently than they do to her natural blonde self.
The blonde Canadian actress, and star of new show Vikings, worked with Kurt Russell and Matt Dillon on comedy The Art Of Steal, about a third-rate motorcycle daredevil and part-time art thief who teams up with his snaky brother to steal one of the most valuable books in the world.
Katheryn revealed: "It's a fun, comedy heist and Kurt Russell and Matt Dillon are hilarious in it.
"I play Lola, and it was interesting to try a different look, I had a black wig on. It was interesting to see how the cast and crew reacted to someone differently just by your physical appearance. They had no idea I was blonde."
The 35-year-old actress said she learned a lot from working with veteran actors like Kurt, Bill Murray and Charlie Sheen, and seeing the atmosphere they create on set.
She said: "Kurt Russell is such a lovely guy, an amazing human being. He's a guy's guy but also a girl's best friend. He's very friendly and happy on set.
"Being a lead in a movie it's important because that trickles down to the other actors and creates an environment where you can have fun and laugh. And I think, especially for comedy, it was really important to have that free spirit. He was great to work with.
"Him and Bill Murray, I did a movie with him, and he was great to work with. Him and Charlie Sheen. It's great to be around these comedians and great actors and see how they approach their craft and create a very warm, fun environment. It was inspiring but also a lot of fun."
