Worthington set to scale Everest

Sam Worthington is to join real-life drama Everest, according to reports.

The Wrath Of The Titans star and House Of Cards actress Robin Wright are set to sign up to the true-life tale about a disastrous attempt to scale the summit of the world's highest mountain, reported Deadline.

The Australian actor is tipped to play mountaineer and guide Guy Cotter, while Robin could be cast as Peach Weathers, the wife of Josh Brolin's character Beck.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Jason Clarke are already on board to portray the expedition's group leaders Scott Fischer and Rob Hall respectively, with John Hawkes, Emily Watson and Vanessa Kirby in other roles.

Baltasar Kormakur will direct the real-life movie, which is shooting in Nepal on the base of Everest. Scenes will also be shot in the Italian Dolomites, Cinecitta Studios in Rome and the UK's Pinewood Studios.

Written by Mark Medoff and Slumdog Millionaire's Simon Beaufoy, Everest is scheduled for release in 2015.

Sam, last seen reprising his role as Greek hero Perseus in Wrath Of The Titans, will next star in action thriller Sabotage alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.

His upcoming films include thriller The Keeping Room and Australian family drama Paper Planes.
