Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom is considering whether to investigate racy scenes shown in the X Factor final.
The show saw US star Christina Aguilera perform a suggestive routine with scantily-clad dancers.
Rihanna also gave a raunchy performance when she stripped off her gown to parade around the stage in a bikini in Saturday's first part of the final.
Both ITV and Ofcom have each received around 1,000 complaints about the pre-watershed scenes.
An Ofcom spokesman said: “We are assessing the complaints but are not currently investigating the show.”
An X Factor spokesman said: “We are confident that the performances by our guest artistes were appropriate for the show.”
Aguilera's routine was the most explicit, with her dancers wearing only stockings, knickers and bras.
A TV insider said what was broadcast was no different to what is aired on music TV channels during the day.
