X Factor: Katie Waissel beats Aiden Grimshaw in vote

Katie Waissel's X Factor dream is still alive

Katie Waissel clung on to her X Factor dream after she found herself once again in the bottom two in an agonising results show which saw Aiden Grimshaw given the boot.

The singer, who has already survived several sing-offs in the competition, was told this could be her final week, and as judges took the competition to deadlock it seemed her luck had run out.

But the 24-year-old gasped and clutched her head in her hands as host Dermot O'Leary announced the result of the public vote, putting an end to Aiden's X Factor ambitions.

"That's a big shock," he added, apparently echoing Katie's own sentiments.

"I'm really grateful that people kept me in," she said.

"I'm surprised I've been in the bottom two a lot now, then there were people out there who see me for who I am, and I want to thank them."

Acknowledging his defeat, Aiden added: "You win some, you lose some."

Despite routinely finding herself in the bottom two, Katie appeared delighted after her version of Christina Aguilera's Save Me From Myself convinced viewers to do just that.
