X Factor's Louis Walsh lashes Brian Kennedy over Jedward tweet
Monday, 27 February 2012
X Factor judge Louis Walsh has slammed Belfast singer Brian Kennedy who described Jedward’s Eurovision song was ‘boring’.
Walsh told the Irish Daily Star in a scathing putdown as “I really hope that Jedward don’t end up like Brian Kennedy – bitter without a record deal and taking any silly reality show that comes their way.”
“Jedward are multi-millionaires, they’re making their third album, they’re working around the world and they are having the time of their lives. Bitter people like Brian Kennedy can’t stand that.”
Kennedy, The Voice coach, took to Twitter over the weekend to vent at Jedward winning the Eurosong contest on the Late Late Show on Friday night.
He tweeted: ”Boring song, 4 backing singers? Surprise, surprise. Scarlet is all I have to say. Poor Jedward. No amount of jumping will be enough. Morto.”
Since then he has been inundated with messages from Jedward fans unhappy with his comments. One fan blasted him for his “rude treatment of kids.”
Walsh hit back at the singer who came tenth in the Eurovision when he represented Ireland in 2006 when he spoke to the Star last night: “People love Jedward and they have house full signs for every show they do, unlike Brian Kennedy. The problem is that it’s all over for Brian and no one seems to have told him.”
He added: “Actually, I used to like him when he was Van Morrisson’s backing singer.”
Walsh also attacked Kennedy for his questioning of fellow The Voice coach Kian Egan’s singing talent. Walsh told the newspaper: “He’s asking if Kian can sing?
“Tell him to buy a ticket to Croke Park this summer and he can hear him. I’m sure it will be Brian’s first time in Croke Park but Kian has performed there lots of times.
“I’d bring Brian along myself but I don’t need any more backing singers.”
Brian Kennedy’s Twitter account was quiet this morning.
