X Factor's Mary Byrne risks knock-out after she rocks out

Contestant Mary Byrne at Fountain Studios in Wembley, north London, for the recording of X Factor

ITV's 'X Factor' judge Louis Walsh believes Tesco worker Mary Byrne, pictured, could finally get knocked out this weekend,

The 51-year-old missed two days of rehearsals this week due to laryngitis but Walsh believes a number of factors could contribute to her elimination, including a double elimination tomorrow night.

"Mary has come so far and I wanted to get her into next weekend's semi-finals but there are a lot of negatives coming together against Mary this weekend," Walsh told the Irish Independent.

"She's not well for a start. The rock theme of this weekend doesn't suit her. TV3 not putting her voting lines up on the screen in Ireland could leave her in the final two and I know both Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole will vote Mary off if it comes to an elimination."

Battling illness, Ms Byrne has visited doctors twice in recent days in the hope that she will be able to sing in tonight's show. "It's a bit of a thyroid infection. I have this constant problem with my throat," said Ms Byrne.

Despite the setback, she promised to "let her inner rock chick out" when she sings songs by U2 and The Pretenders.
