X Factor's Rachel cries her heart out as Irish Jedward twins survive

John and Edward

X Factor's most controversial act has survived another week after the public gave their rendition of Queen's We Will Rock You the thumbs up.

Irish twins John and Edward, aka Jedward, have divided the nation with their chaotic performances, out-of-tune singing, and wacky dress sense.

Simon Cowell has threatened to leave England and sulk for six months if the pair win the talent contest.

And last night the viewing public once again voted to save the most unlikely pop duo since the Cheeky Girls.

All nine acts got the show off to a rocking start with a group performance of Walk This Way, before Bon Jovi showed how the professionals do it — singing their new single We Weren’t Born To Follow.

This time last year JLS were one of nine acts all hoping to win The X Factor, and last night they returned to the show as double MOBO winners intent on stealing the number one spot from Cheryl Cole with their new single Everybody In Love.

It was then time to face the results, and after Dermot had finished reading the names out, only were Rachel and Lloyd were left.

Eighteen-year-old Rachel took to the sing-off stage for the third time and delivered a perfect rendition of Stop Crying Your Heart out by Oasis.

Lloyd battled through You Are So Beautiful, but a sore throat prevented the baby-faced pop wannabe from hitting all the high notes.

Dannii and Louis opted to save Rachel, while Cheryl stuck by Lloyd.

When it came to making a decision, Simon said he wanted to leave it to the public.

Although he said Rachel had performed better than Lloyd, he said it was the third time she was in the bottom two so he was concerned that she did not have the backing of the public. He also said it was difficult to judge Lloyd’s performance as he was having difficulty even speaking.

With the judges at deadlock, the decision was handed back to the public and student Rachel became the first girl to be voted off the ITV1 talent show.

Mentor Dannii Minogue said she did not know where it went wrong.

It was the third time Rachel had been in the bottom two.

Minogue said all the guest artists who mentored the acts had adored Rachel.

The judge added that she hoped Rachel would go on to find success like JLS, last year's runners-up.

Ah Pauline, at least there are two of us with enough nous to realise the show is fixed and has nothing whatever to do with the votes. This appalling act makes for controversy so more people tune in to watch. The show never had much credibility but now has lost it all.

John and Edward can't sing for toffee but it is an absolute disgrace the way the audienec are booing them, especially when there are members of their family in the audience. Lloyd is probably a worse singer than both John and Edward yet he still manages to defy the odds.

I am appauled that Rachel has been voted out. Neither of these acts should have been in the last 2. Unfortunately Jedward is making a mockery of the entire show. I can't see how they remain unaffected by the whole thing. They must know that are just a joke! The people that are voting for them are just people who do not appreciate or respect the essence of the show and just want to make a laughing stock of the program!!!

We belive that it is time that the X Factor owners get thier act together.

Regardless of Rachel being inthe botom two for the third time, Rachel was the beter singing in the sing-off.

So what is the use of having a sing off, if judges are only going to vote for thier own act.

Rachel dreams were crushed by Simon and Cheryl, and I see no reason why the judges are part of the live shows, they should be mentoring behind the scenes, it they claim to record producers, managers and artstes.

We are disgusted with the X Factor, as wellas in all 6 years, the panel, like british telelvision, does not represent the diversity of Brtain.
