Zoe Salmon’s dreams of becoming queen of the ice were dashed last night after she was voted off Dancing on Ice.
The 29-year-old ex-Blue Peter presenter narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-final when she became the ninth person to leave the popular competition.
For the second week in a row the Bangor-born beauty found herself in the bottom two following the public vote. And after a nail-biting skate-off against former Liberty X singer Jessica Taylor it was Zoe who made a shock departure from the show.
Dressed in a floaty salmon pink outfit, she had danced to the Leona Lewis rendition of the Snow Patrol hit ‘Run’. Her routine, which received a mixed response from the judges, included an aeroplane spin, a free jump and a back roll-up into an overhead spin and gained her a score of 23.5, one of the highest of the night.
Speaking on the show last night, Zoe told of her disappointment at having to go.
“It is just a rollercoaster of emotions. Every now and again the nerves get the better of me. It could have been better.
“I have had a ball. It has just been amazing. Bring on the tour — I can’t bear the void in my life without the ice skating. Well done to Jess — she was definitely the better skater.”
Zoe, who was paired with Canadian professional skater Matt Evers, also described being coached by Olympic gold figure skaters Jane Torville and Christopher Dean as a “privilege and an honour”.
Meanwhile last night Jane Torville described the lass from Northern Ireland as a real laugh and spoke of her pleasure at watching her progress throughout the show.
