DVD: Dogtooth (18)

An overtly indie Greek film about a man who keeps his family in a closed compound and schools them in the outlandish dangers of the outside world (deadly cats, falling planes, you name it), the pitter-patter of their peculiar existence gives way to a more conventional narrative only at the very end. Dogtooth may be incredibly weird, but it is remarkable in other ways too: elegant shots, plausible performances, and the ingenuity of its premise. Even its most bizarre stunts (innocent incest, practical self-mutilation) seem possible when conveyed by this excellent young cast
