Restoration star is a perfect venue

Short of space? There are 200 acres of breathtaking land, forest and gardens just waiting for you at Lissan House.

Short of space? There are 200 acres of breathtaking land, forest and gardens just waiting for you at Lissan House.

One of the previous stars of the BBC's Restoration programme, the 17th century listed building is undergoing a metamorphosis to provide new tourist, community and heritage facilities.

The owner, Hazel Radclyffe Dolling, who died earlier this year, bequeathed her home to Friends Of Lissan House, who have since unveiled plans for a visitor destination incorporating accommodation, conference facilities, a walled garden, gate lodges, walks and trails.

And now the Trust has put out the call to anyone who wants to get involved in the project.

Accommodation and events organisers, sporting bodies, environmental groups, workspace managers and others are invited to check out the facilities at two open days.

A Trust spokesman said: "This will be of interest to any organisation - public, voluntary or private - that is looking for a unique location.

"The site will eventually include accommodation, conference rooms, a walled garden, work units, extensive woodland, gate lodges and restaurant/ cafe facilities."

Interested parties can view the site and talk to the trust at two open days. They can call Karen at Cookstown Enterprise Centre on 8676 3660 to reserve a place and receive an information pack.
