Another bad break for jinxed Snow Patrol
Tuesday, 23 January 2007
The Snow Patrol health jinx struck again today after it was revealed drummer Jonny Quinn has broken his arm.
The Belfast man sustained the injury in a recent snowboarding accident while on holiday in France.
It means that Jonny will not be able to join the rest of the band on their upcoming tour of Europe and Australia, which begins in Offenbach on March 4.
The drummer's injury is the latest in a series of mishaps to befall the Brit-nominated Northern Irish band.
Last year they were forced to cancel a number of concerts in the US after singer Gary Lightbody developed polyps on his vocal cords.
Lightbody was advised by doctors at the time to take several weeks off from touring to rest his voice, prompting the band to reschedule the American dates later in the year.
Then bassist Paul Wilson had to pull out of a number of shows after he injured his shoulder.
Replacing Quinn on the forthcoming tour will be Graham Hopkins, formerly of Larne band Therapy?.
Meanwhile, Gary Lightbody has been voted best stand-in DJ for Zane Lowe's show in the last few weeks.
A host of musicians stepped into Zane's show when he took annual leave, including Coldplay's Chris Martin, Kelly Osbourne, The Zutons, The Kaiser Chiefs and Mike Skinner of The Streets.
Listeners of the Radio One show were given a chance to vote for their favourite fill-in and Bangor-born Gary came out on top.
