Basshunter is top of the pops for Ulster under-18s

The Swedish DJ currently topping the UK charts is to headline a massive gig for under-18s at St George's Market in Belfast in March.

Basshunter, aka Jonas Altberg, will perform at Revolution along with other dance acts such as Booty Luv, Bodyrox, Sunblock and Hi-Tack.

Thousands of young music fans are expected to pack into St George's Market on March 19 for the event — set to be the largest of its kind in Northern Ireland.

Revolution will travel to four venues across Ireland over the Easter mid-term break, visiting Castlebar, Dublin and Killarney as well as Belfast.

James Hyland, managing director of Creative Sounds Ltd, the company behind the event, said: “Revolution has been set up to offer the under-18 market an event that will feature some of the biggest acts performing live and in a safe environment.

“These shows are promoted with security and safety being a priority and all shows are strictly alcohol free.

He added: “Revolution is also working closely with all local authorities.”

Tickets for Revolution are priced ¤35 and go on sale this Saturday at 9am.

Basshunter is currently number one in the UK charts with the Eurodance single Now You're Gone.

The Swedish producer behind the single found himself at the centre of a porn scandal when photographs of himself having sex with a former girlfriend were posted on the internet.

Altberg later said the photographs had been taken by a friend and that they had been posted online without his permission.

The line-up also includes British dance group Booty Luv, who have had several top 20 singles including Boogie 2nite and Don't Mess With My Man and English house music DJ duo Bodyrox.
