New campsite to offer 'luxury' to Oxegen fans

The Irish property market may be experiencing a slump but some parts of the country remain highly-desirable — and so it goes at this year's Oxegen music festival.

The green campsite is described as "a more luxurious stay" for the discerning festival-goer with a range of yurts, a type of tent, and teepees pre-constructed on site so you simply need to turn up with your sleeping bag and move in on the weekend of July 11-13.

A new item on the market this year is the MyHab, a tent made from tough recycled plastic and water proof cardboard. Again it removes the hassle of constructing a tent, and the adjoining village promises "hot showers and spotless loos".

Described as "affordable luxury festival accommodation", it works out at approximately E150pps.

And you can't take it home. For the first time, this year's festival will be 100pc carbon neutral and, to that end, eco-conscious campers will be able to use mobile composting toilets.

Despite the cute names, the festival organisers have warned that there are no facilities for children under the age of five and advise against bringing young children.

Teenagers under 17 must have identification and be accompanied by an adult, but if they are afraid of losing their passport or driving licence there is a post office in the red camping site where they can post it home after gaining entry.

And don't fret if you forget something. As well as shops where you can buy vitals such as tents and wellies, a Centra shop will be open to source toothpaste and morning-after essentials such as paracetamol and water.

For those who aren't too ill, there are two large funfairs while for those who can't find something they like among the 150 acts across seven stages there will be Red Bull skaters, pop art installations and a headphone disco.
