Album: Elliot Minor, Elliot Minor

Friday, April 25, 2008

They're regarded as the next big thing in pop ... But despite a rich musical background Elliot Minor fail to deliver the expected bag of goodies.

ELLIOT MINOR

Elliot Minor

(Repossession)

They cannot be blamed for effort — but maybe it's a case of trying too hard.

EM specialise in combining rock and classical music — guitar with piccolo. The York five-piece also do a mean three-way vocal harmony.

This results in an over-complicated strange brew and each track more a mini-opera than a pop tune. At its best this should sound like a mix of Muse,Queen and Jim Steinman's work with Meat Loaf.

What you get, though, is Busted crossed with The Darkness. Very strange indeed!

Don't Miss . . .
