Axl Rose’s Twitter account hacked - Guns ‘N’ Roses tour still on

Guns ‘N’ Roses’ long-awaited UK and Irish tour — including a Belfast date this month — looks set to go ahead after a Twitter hacker claimed that all concerts had been cancelled.

Fans were thrown into confusion yesterday when a message from frontman Axl Rose’s Twitter account stated the band’s upcoming dates had been axed.

The US rock group are due to play their first British arena tour in four years, including the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on August 31. But the tweet, purporting to come from Axl Rose, seemed to cancel the shows.

Posted at 10pm on Sunday, it stated: “All upcoming Guns ‘N’ Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds.”

The announcement caught the rest of the band off guard too, with new guitarist DJ Ashba making no reference to the cancellation on Twitter a few hours later.

However, the situation was clarified yesterday when a spokesman confirmed that Axl’s Twitter account was hacked and the gigs are going ahead.
