Belfast Vital numbers: Final preparations underway for Muse and Tiesto gigs
Belfast Vital 2017 is set to kick off this week, with tens of thousands of music fans to descend on Boucher Road Playing Fields in the city.
With the final preparations underway, we take a look at the numbers needed to pull together the massive gigs.
- 2 - Number of Vital concerts
This year's Belfast Vital will host two gigs in total. Rockers Muse will headline the first show on Wednesday, August 23 while DJ Tiesto will perform on Saturday, August 26.
- 9 - Number of performances
Over the two gigs nine bands and musicians will perform in total. Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves, and Fangclub will support Muse on Wednesday, while Clean Bandit, Robin Schulz, Sigala, and Disciples will take to the stage before Tiesto's headline performance on Saturday.
- 60,000 - Number of music fans
Around 60,000 people are expected to arrive at Boucher Road Playing Fields over the two days, with around 20,000 thought to come from outside of Northern Ireland.
- 600 - Number of buses from the Republic of Ireland
With massive names like Muse, Biffy Clyro and Tiesto peforming, it's no surprise that fans are coming from all over the UK and Ireland to see them perform and organiser say they are expecting 600 buses from the Republic of Ireland alone.
- 500 - Number of security personnel
With the aim of keeping everyone safe while enjoying the gigs, around 500 security personel will be on site for both concerts.
- 400 - number of portaloos
They are a major necessity and it just wouldn't be a festival without them. As well as 400 portaloos there will also be 200 urinals on site. So now you know...
- 1 - Number of Ferris Wheels
A massive Ferris Wheel has been erected at Boucher Road Playing Fields for fans to enjoy the city sights as well as the music.
- 50 - Number of generators
Around 50 generators have been brought in to power the gigs and organisers say this would be enough to power a small NI town, namely Comber. There will also be 4-5 miles of electric cabling.
- 2 - Number of bars
There will be two bars on site for visitors to enjoy and, as always, organisers are reminding those of you will be drinking alcohol to do so responsbily. Anyone under the age of 25 will be asked to produce ID.
- 23 - Number of metres high the stage reaches
The massive Vital stage stands at 23m high and 30m long - plenty of room for the acts run around and enjoy the Belfast fans.
- 3,500 - Number of Golden Circle places
The first 3,500 people through the gates on both days will get a wristband which will allow them access to the site's Golden Circle and the best views of their favourite acts.
