David Bowie's family have said they are "overwhelmed" by the reaction to the death of the much-admired pop star.
In a statement posted to the late singer's official Facebook page, the family stated they "welcome everyone's celebration".
The message, in full, begins with "THANK YOU".
It continues: "The family of David Bowie is currently making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend.
"They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times."
Bowie died on Monday aged 69 after an 18-month battle with cancer. Reports have claimed his body has already been cremated.
