1D set for Australian X Factor

One Direction came third on The X Factor in 2010

One Direction are returning to The X Factor, but this time they will be mentors instead of contestants.

The boy band - who found fame on the UK talent show in 2010 - are to be guest mentors on the Australian version of the programme, according to the show's website.

Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and co will be helping out as the show's permanent panellists Ronan Keating, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Guy Sebastian and Spice Girl Mel B search for the hottest new singing talent Down Under.

Music stars Alicia Keys, Usher and Kesha will also be taking up mentoring duties during the series.

One Direction have enjoyed chart success with songs such as What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing since they auditioned for the UK X Factor.
