Niall Horan says he and Demi Lovato are just good friends

Niall Horan has said Demi Lovato is one of the "nicest girls I know", but insisted they are just friends

The 19-year-old One Direction star insisted nothing had happened between him and the 20-year-old US X Factor judge, but told Now magazine they were good pals and had been out for dinner.

Niall explained: "What actually happened was that I always used to say in my interviews that I liked her and she also said she liked me. We got in contact through Twitter and we just started chatting and became friends.

"Demi's one of the nicest girls I know. She's super-cool. She always texts me to see how I am. Nothing ever really happened.

"When I've been in LA and had a few hours to myself, I've seen her a couple of times. We did go for a bit of dinner after the MTV Video Music Awards."

Niall also spoke about kissing Katy Perry at the MTV VMAs.

He raved: "Walking up those stairs the first thing I saw was her with her lips out. I forgot about the award at that moment - I just went straight for her lips.

"Oh man - she's amazing! I think she feels a little bit of ownership over me because she was the one to put me through on X Factor when she was a guest judge. I don't mind - she isn't a bad person to be making comments on ya!

"Katy's super-hot. And she's really cool as well. She was the first person to say hi backstage. Our dressing room was next to hers and we were just chatting and stuff."
