Aerosmith in Manila for special gig

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith arrives in Manila

Members of the American rock band Aerosmith have arrived in Manila for their first ever concert in South East Asia.

Lead vocalist Steven Tyler told journalists jostling for pictures: "I can't wait to play, I can't believe you guys."

Aerosmith are performing in Manila on May 8, with tickets costing up to 20,000 pesos (480 US dollars).

The band's show in Indonesia was cancelled, with promoter Ismaya Live citing safety concerns. It was not clear if the decision was connected to an alleged bomb plot targeting Myanmar's embassy in Jakarta.

Aerosmith began their Asia-Pacific tour in April in New Zealand and Australia.
