American Pie legend Don McLean to play Derry concert

Singer Don McLean has announced he is to perform in Londonderry in 2012.

The singer songwriter is one of the world’s most sought after live acts, with Vincent and American Pie among his most internationally acclaimed songs.

McLean’s other major hits such as Crossroads, And I Love You So, Crying and Castles In the Air are all expected when he performs at the Millennium Forum on Saturday, November 3, 2012.

The gig will form part of a UK-wide tour to mark McLean’s 40th anniversary in the music business.

Since first hitting the charts in 1971, New Yorker Don has amassed over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide and, in 2004, was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.

He has sold out arenas worldwide and has performed more than 3,500 shows.
