Annie Lennox to get music award

Annie Lennox is set to be honoured with an award for her contribution to British music and charity work.

The singer has been chosen to receive the 22nd Music Industry Trusts Award at a gala dinner on November 4.

The ceremony will raise money for Nordoff Robbins and the BRIT Trust, having raised £4.3 million for them in the past..

Annie, who has had worldwide hits with The Tourists, Eurythmics and as a solo artist, said: "I'm incredibly touched and honoured to be considered as a recipient of the 22nd Music Industry Trusts Award.

"Music has given me a lifetime of experiences and opportunities that I never would have dreamed possible, and I feel very privileged to have been able to become an artist and communicator, especially as a woman."

The award recognises people across a range of industries and past winners have included Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, John Barry OBE, Sir Michael Parkinson CBE, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue OBE, Jools Holland OBE and Gary Barlow OBE.
