Ant and Dec 'really excited' to host 2016 Brit Awards

TV duo Ant and Dec have been confirmed as hosts of the 2016 Brit Awards for the second year in a row.

The official date of the awards has also been announced as Wednesday February 24 2016.

The awards, hosted in conjunction with MasterCard, will be held once again at London's O2 arena, with a live broadcast on ITV.

"We're really excited to be invited back to host The Brit Awards 2016. In all honesty we only intended to do it for one year but had such a good time we are thrilled to be doing it again," the duo said in a statement.

"Both of us are looking forward to what will be an incredible night, and we can't wait to celebrate the achievements of British music once again."

Chairman of the Brit Awards, Max Lousada said: " We're delighted to welcome Ant and Dec back to host the Brits next year. They played a huge role in the success of this year's event and we're all looking forward to another great show in 2016."

Big winners from the 2015 award show included Ed Sheeran (best British album and British male solo artist), Taylor Swift (international female artist) and Sam Smith (British breakthrough act).
