Barlow: Johnny Cash inspired single

Gary Barlow has revealed his new single Let Me Go was inspired by Johnny Cash.

The Take That singer and X Factor judge told The Sun how he listened to music by the country legend as well as Sir Elton John while writing the track.

Gary said: "I've always liked folky, acoustic music but I've never fully explored it. I turned back time and was listening to Johnny Cash and early Elton John before I wrote Let Me Go.

"I'm 42, I don't want to do urban or dance music."

And he dismissed comparisons between his new single and the music of folk band Mumford And Sons.

Gary said, "I love Mumford And Sons - it's good English music, but let's be honest, they got it off Johnny Cash too."
