Barlow visits troops in Afghanistan

Gary Barlow has flown to Afghanistan to visit British troops as part of a one-off television programme, it has been reported.

Photographs showing the X Factor judge meeting Armed Forces personnel and performing a live concert were posted on Twitter by friends and family of the soldiers back home.

In one picture the former Take That star grins while holding up a message which reads "Hello Peyton Daddy Misses You Loads xxx."

Twitter user Sarah Hunt also posted: "@GaryBarlow Wanted to say Thanks for visiting my sister & all in Afghanistan. Lifts their spirits no end!" with a picture of the makeshift concert attached.

Gary was filming an hour-long TV special for ITV, expected to air in December, The Mirror reported.

An ITV spokeswoman told the newspaper: "Owing to security restrictions it would be inappropriate to release further information."

Last year Gary was appointed an OBE for services to music and charity, including climbing Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief and organising the Children In Need Rocks concert.
