Belsonic 2017: Everything you need to know about The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers have crashed into the music charts with their hit songs Closer and Something Just Like This - and they are performing at Belsonic on Monday night, so here's everything you need to know.
Who are The Chainsmokers?
DJing and producing duo The Chainsmokers are Andrew Taggart (27) and Alex Pall (32) who got together in 2012.
Where are they from?
Both hail from the US, with Alex growing up in New York State while Andrew was born in Maine.
What was their first big hit?
While you would be forgiven for thinking it was their 2017 track Closer, The Chainsmokers actually achieved huge success with their 2014 hit Selfie, leading to them scoring their first major record deal.
Who did they collaborate with on Closer?
Closer was a massive hit for the pair this year and it features vocals from US singer Halsey.
Who else have The Chainsmokers worked with?
There's no stopping the pair as they have recently collaborated with Coldplay on their hit song Something Just Like This. They have also previously worked with Tiesto, Emily Warren, and Daya.
Why are they called The Chainsmokers?
They thought it sounded clever. Fair enough.
Have they released an album?
Yes, their debut record Memories...Do Not Open was released in April 2017 and reached number 3 in the UK Album Chart.
Who will be supporting The Chainsmokers at Belsonic?
Fellow American DJs Lost Kings will be supporting the pair on Monday, as will UK singer Anne-Marie.
